ARITA Small Practice Conference
Turnkey news
15th – 16th September 2022
Following a pandemic-induced hiatus from events, our Australian team were delighted to attend the ARITA Small Practice Conference, this September, in the Barossa Valley.
Flynn Douglas, Business Development Consultant at Turnkey, shares his experience.
Where to from here?
This was our first conference since pre-pandemic and although Queenslanders were not subjected to the tribulations of extended lockdowns that some less fortunate states/territories were, it was still great to be back in a face-to-face environment. The conference proved to be a great opportunity to meet both existing clients and stalwarts of the insolvency/restructuring industry, many of whom either presented or participated in panel discussions on topics relevant to the field.
The theme of the conference was “where to from here?” a question of paramount relevance that was central to a number of the items within the itinerary. Despite the temptation to enjoy the picturesque scenery (and premier wine) on offer at Barossa, attending these presentations proved to be a highly worthwhile exercise, with each timeslot proving valuable both from an entertainment and educational perspective.
A particular personal highlight proved to be Bruce Gleeson’s (of client Jones Partners) presentation of his unique direct insights into the Melissa Caddick Ponzi Scheme from the liquidator’s perspective. In addition to this, a panel discussion on the topic of small firm potential advantages – involving Simon Cathro (Cathro & Partners) – provided valuable insight into not only existing as a small firm but also their potential dependence on precedents and insolvency software and what future solutions could potentially come to exist.
What’s in a name?
Formerly known as CORE Australia, Turnkey’s sponsorship of a coffee-cart booth at the conference provided us with the opportunity to communicate this change with attendees, helping to shift recognition from the CORE brand to Turnkey, as well as carrying out brief demonstrations of our primary insolvency case management platform, IPS Cloud.
We would encourage all prospective IPS Cloud clients who we did not have the opportunity to interact with to reach out via our website.
In the theme of where to from here, Turnkey along with the rest of the industry expect work to continue to ramp up as we move forward and will endeavour to continue a high standard of communication with clients both existing and potential. We have now confirmed our sponsorship of the ARITA National Conference coming in October, we look forward to ongoing interactions with those in the industry.
