Turnkey hosted a special AI Regulatory Forum in London. This marks an important first step in bringing key voices together to shape how AI is responsibly adopted across the insolvency profession. The forum brought together senior leaders from the Insolvency Service, the RPBs and R3 to explore both the opportunities and challenges AI presents for the sector.

Over the past year, the conversation has moved beyond whether AI will have an impact and towards how we can harness it responsibly. Central to that conversation is how AI can deliver genuine, real-world value while maintaining appropriate governance, transparency and professional oversight.

What stood out most was the quality of the conversation - questions were asked and thoughtfully addressed with diverse perspectives and a healthy debate, while commonly recognising that AI has now become an increasingly important part of the insolvency profession’s future.

Several themes prevailed in our discussion:

  • The growing volume of information IPs are expected to process daily, and the opportunity for AI to reduce the administrative burden
  • What increased productivity and efficiency could mean for traditional fee models
  • How regulators, IPs, and technology providers can collaborate to support transparency and ensure compliance.

Against the backdrop of ongoing consultation on insolvency rule changes and wider reform, the timing of the discussion felt particularly relevant.

The opportunity before us is clear: by working together, we can ensure a future where innovation provides tangible benefits while upholding the standards, accountability, and professional judgment that form the foundation of our sector.

For me, what mattered most was the shared willingness to engage with the practical realities of AI, not just the theory. AI will not replace professional judgement, but it can support better quality, greater consistency and a reduction in manual tasks where used responsibly. The important thing now is that we continue to shape this as a profession, with proper governance, transparency and oversight at the centre.

This meeting marked the beginning of an important journey. We were delighted the Turnkey team had a seat at the table representing both technology and innovation, while also supporting the interests, opportunities and challenges of our clients.
